Red, White and Blue!

Our 4th of July morning started off with the annual parade in Everett. Every year we are spoiled with the convenience of getting watch the parade from the front of our church and the fun to watch it with friends! This year we were joined by my mom, Kerry's mom, Tom and Jen. While we also took C last year, it was so fun to see him actually take notice of what was happening around him. He loved the cars, bands and balloons!

Getting a taste of his first lollipop! He had a hard time understanding that you lick it and don't just bite it!

The gang!

My sweet boy and I :)

After the parade, and a nap, we had everyone (and the Purcells!) over to our place for a BBQ and fireworks show curtesy of our crazy neighbors. They kept it low key this year, only spending 4 grand on fireworks this year... oh my! I thoroughly enjoying watching them from a safe distance in the comfort of my front yard with homemade strawberry shortcake and a glass of wine in hand :)

Grass Between My Toes

Christian is has been really unsure of grass in the past. You can set home down and he immediately picks up his feet and basically tries to keep as much of his body off the grass as possible! But I have slowly enticed him to warm up to the grass by playing with bubbles, a favorite for sure! Now anytime you point to grass he says "bubbles!"

It is so fun to watch your child learn and explore. Everything is new and an experience! The simplest of things, like grass, is fascinating and I love to see his wheels turning as he touches, smells, looks and yes tastes this foreign thing!

Lions, Tigers and Bears...OH MY!

We celebrated Mother's Day on Saturday by having a family date at one of my all time favorite breakfast spots, The Portage Bay Cafe. Seriously, any place that has a fresh toppings bar for delicious gluten free french toast has my stamp of approval! We indulged in fresh fruit and whipped cream and sipped on coffee. It was wonderful. When we were completely stuffed, we headed out to our next event, the zoo!

This was C's first visit to the zoo and we invited Mamaw and Grandad and Auntie Jen along for the adventure. Christian is really interested in elephants and gorillas these days ( he makes the best animal noises for them!) so we were really excited to see his reaction. He was pretty timid at first but by the end he was figuring things out and was becoming more and more curious.
