Christmas 2014

This Christmas was a bit more low key as we had only been home from the hospital a few days. On Christmas Eve we went to church- Kerry was helping with worship and it was Calvin's first time! I felt so blessed getting to snuggle my sweet boy in my arms, singing songs to God, surrounded by my church family. That evening my parents came over and we ate dinner and played games.

On Christmas morning, Christian waited on the stairs in his new jammies for a picture, just like his Daddy did growing up. We opened presents  and stockings downstairs before loading up and heading over to my parents. Later that evening we went to Robin and Tom's.

One Month

Calvin you are one month old! My how this month has flown by!

One Month Stats:
Weight: 5 lbs 11 oz (0%)
Length: 19.5 in (3%)
Head Circumference: 13.6 in (4%)

Clothes: Calvin is wearing preemie and newborn clothes. He is outgrowing preemie clothes in length but a lot of newborn is still too big!

Eating: You are eating on demand, usually every three hours. You  nurse 3-4 times a day and eat fortified breast milk 3-4 times a day.

Playtime/Activities: You made it home for your one month birthday! There wasn't a whole lot of playing in the NICU so we look forward to introducing toys and books to you. You did make it to church for Christmas Eve which was a big outing and celebrated Christmas.

Sleep: You came home on the typical NICU three hour schedule so we will see how long that lasts. Most of the day you are asleep and just wake up to eat. And even then, we have to wake you up if its been 4 hours since you last ate.
Development: My sweet boy who still should be in my womb :) You are rooting, sucking, eating, breathing and swallowing which are all major accomplishments for you!

Pirate Party!

How did my son turn 3?! For Christian's party, we decided to have a Jake and the Neverland Pirates theme. We were still in the NICU with Calvin but it was really important to me to have a celebration. We just did lots of purchases from Amazon and kept things pretty simple. (Although I love throwing parties and its hard for me to stay TOO simple!) We kept it small and invited Mamaw and Grandad, Nana and Papa and his friends (Grayson, Makenna, Ellie and Rayleigh) and their families. I just love that his cousins are some of his best friends too!

Activities
The highlight of the evening was the treasure hunt. I wrote up the clues and hid them around the house. Kerry dressed up like a pirate and led the crew on their adventure. Whenever they figured out the clue, they had to yell "Yo Ho Let's Go!".  At the end each kid got a treasure chest filled with an inflatable sword, ring pops and Pirates Booty!

Coloring Pages- printed off of Disney Junior

Temporary Tattoos

Food

We ordered pizzas (simple, see?) and then I added some extras…

These pirate wheels were SO good! Gluten Free pretzel chips dipped in chocolate bark and sprinkled with crushed heath bar. So easy to make and fun to eat!

My mom and Kerry helped me make these treasure chests on top of the cupcakes using Hershey Nuggets and mini M 'n Ms. The cupcakes were boxed gluten free devils food cake topped with peanut butter frosting.

Decor:

Amazon was my best friend! From pirate hats to treasure chests, I was set.
Table center piece:

Giant wall picture and Christian's photo shoot :)

Our guests and party fun!

Happy Birthday to my sweet, silly, caring, funny little boy. I love your sense of humor, your love for your friends and family and how your eyes sparkle and light up when you are excited. You are a ball of energy but also love to snuggle and get tickles. I am blessed to be your Mama!

Kangaroo Care with Daddy

Kangaroo care is so important for preemies growth and development so we try to do this everyday. Kerry has been fighting a cold so he has had to go several days without holding Calvin, but today he was feeling better so he tried kangaroo care for the first time!
